

Constance Ruth Charnas (née Cheney), age 76, of Upper Arlington, Ohio passed away May 29, 2023 after a brief battle with lung cancer. Connie, as her friends and family called her, was born on May 1, in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Shelby High School in 1965 and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from The Ohio State University in 1969. Her career included time with the claims and underwriting department of Medical Mutual of Ohio, JPMorgan Chase, and as a pharmacy technician at the Kingsdale Giant Eagle in Upper Arlington. In her free time, Connie was a volunteer with the Ohio Republican Party and an avid reader of murder mysteries. Connie is survived by her son, Matthew, of Columbus, her brother, Brooke Cheney, of New Albany, her former husband, Michael Charnas, and dear friends, neighbors and colleagues throughout her Shelby, Shaker Heights and Columbus homes. She was preceded in death by her parents Brooke and Virginia Cheney. Visitation will be held 2-4 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2023 at Schoedinger Northeast, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, Ohio, 43230 where Memorial Service will follow at 4:00 p.m. Private inurnment will take place at a later date at Maplewood Cemetery, New Albany.
