

Constance (Connie) Sue Swackhammer of Gahanna, OH, Age 70 passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at home surrounded by family and loved ones after a very long battle with ovarian cancer. Born December 18, 1952 in Pikeville, KY. She was preceded in death by Father, Berlin Dotson, Mother, Phylistine Daugherty Marshall, Step father Donald Marshall, and son, Christian Lodge. Connie is survived by her husband, Larry Swackhammer (Gahanna, OH), sons Jeffrey Lodge (Columbus, OH), Joel (Lori) Lodge (Denver, CO), grandchildren Emily, Meredith, Jonah, Charlotte, and Connor, and her most faithful companion and constant shadow, Daisy “Velcro” Swackhammer. She will also be sorely missed by sisters Rochelle and Debbie, extended family members, close friends, and the animal loving community of Central, OH.
She was raised in Columbus, Ohio and went to Eastmoor High School. She enjoyed a career at American Showa in Sunbury, Ohio before moving on to more charitable pursuits. Connie was many things. A loving wife and mother, a doting grandmother, an avid crafter, appreciator of art, music, and collector of baskets, ornaments, and other items of sentiment. She had a sharp sense of humor, she was smart, and above all she cared for people. Immensely. Her impact on people will always be felt. Through her efforts and with the help of many people along the way she created Faithful Forgotten Best Friends, an organization that provides free food and veterinary care to pets of the homeless and underserved community of Columbus, Ohio.
The Family will hold visitation hours Friday, March 10, 2023 from 4PM-7PM at Schoedinger Funeral Home located at 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. Gahanna, OH 43230.
Celebration of Life will be Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 10AM at Infinite Church located at 175 E. Main Street, New Albany, OH 43054.
