Dale Chittum, age 72 of Gahanna, OH, went to be with the Lord on November 03, 2024. Dale lived his life serving his family in all that he did. He was born September 24, 1952, a son to the late Charles and Ellene Chittum.
Dale married his high school sweetheart, Susan Strang, and they celebrated 51 years of marriage in 2024. They have two children: Matthew and Cory. Dale started his faith journey when he was 39 years old after miraculously being saved from a critical heart failure. He dedicated himself completely to God and began to see God bless the work of his hands.
Dale began working at 9 years of age delivering newspapers for the Columbus Citizen Journal and fostered a strong work ethic. He took this strong work ethic into his career and achieved success as a national account sales executive working with high level management of large national companies.
He was active throughout his youth playing football, wrestling and track & field (shot put and discus) in high school and college. He loved attending his grandkids baseball games, football games, track & field events and cheerleading events. He also enjoyed time with his family at Twin Lakes, his second home out in the country. This time was punctuated by hunting, fishing and golfing with family and friends.
Dale is survived by his loving wife, Susan Strang Chittum; brother Steve Chittum (Debbie); children Matthew (Charity) Chittum, Cory (Lynette) Chittum; grandchildren Dylan, Aubrey, Karley and Nathan as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
His family wishes to extend a special thanks to the dedicated staff of Gentiva Hospice. Their care and attention the past two weeks was especially appreciated.
In his memory, donations can be made to New Life Church Hilliard, 4015 Center Street, Hilliard, OH 43026 for missions.
