David Franklin Barnecut, age 80, passed away on December 2nd, 2022. Born on October 11, 1942 in Zanesville, Ohio, he was the son of the late Wilbur F. and Ebba (Highfield) Barnecut. David graduated in 1960 from Philo High School, Zanesville, Ohio.
David was a long-time member of the Gahanna Lion’s Club. Most importantly David enjoyed being involved in his children’s activities as they were growing up, whether it was as a Boy Scout Leader for his sons, helping out at Pinnell Dance Center for his daughter, attending all dance recitals, competitions, sporting events, Girl Scout outings, Boy Scout camps, and YMCA Indian Princess functions. As he had grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his focus turned to their activities, attending as many as was possible.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Erma Jean (Botkins) Barnecut, whom he married on February 29, 1964 in Ironton, Ohio; his daughter Lisa (Larry) Stacey of Columbiana, Ohio and their children Jonathan, Mackenzie, and Connor; his son Tony Barnecut of Gahanna, Ohio and his children Nicholas (Katherine), Lindsey, and Colton; his son Tom (Stephanie) Barnecut of Sunbury, Ohio and their children Zachary and Jackson; great-grandchildren Remi, Aiden, Chase, and Jeffrey. He is also survived by his sister, Sara (Sam) Stump of Blacklick, Ohio and their children, David and Jennifer.
He is preceded in death by his parents Wilbur and Ebba, and his aunt, Grace Highfield.
Arrangements are entrusted to Schoedinger-Margarum Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Mifflin Cemetery on December 21st, at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gahanna Lions Club and the OSU James Cancer Hospital.
