With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the beautiful life of Delmetha Ann Martin, who was called home on February 27, 2026, at the age of 67, after a courageous battle with heart disease and lupus. Delmetha was born on February 11, 1959, in Columbus, OH to James and Sylvia Martin.
Delmetha was a proud graduate of South High School, Class of 1977, and continued her education at DeVry Institute of Technology. She built a distinguished career, including nearly 20 years of dedicated service at Vision Service Plan (VSP), and previously worked at Ohio Bell, later known as Lucent Technology. Her integrity, dedication, and warmth earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.
Above all, Delmetha was an extraordinary single mother whose heart and soul were devoted to her children. She was the steady anchor of her family, a comforting haven, and a constant source of encouragement. Through her perseverance, sacrifices, and unfailing love, she ensured her children were supported, guided, and cherished. Her strength, wisdom, and devotion as a mother were among her proudest accomplishments.
Delmetha’s love extended just as fully to her grandchildren, who affectionately called her Nana. She cherished each of them, delighting in their laughter, cheering them on in every milestone, and savoring the small, joyful moments that filled her heart. To them, she was more than Nana, she was a source of love, guidance, and endless encouragement.
Lovingly known as Dr. Mom, Delmetha had a natural gift for caring for others. She offered thoughtful guidance, gentle reassurance, and a calming presence that made challenges feel lighter and worries fade. Her love and wisdom were often the remedy for life’s uncertainties, bringing comfort to all who knew her.
Delmetha lived a life defined by strength, grace, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family. Known for her radiant smile, graceful presence, and unmistakable charm, she carried herself with confidence and joy. Delmetha loved makeup and fashion and always stepped out perfectly put together, radiating elegance and style. She possessed a generous spirit that lifted others with encouragement, laughter, and wisdom.
Delmetha didn’t just enter a room — she made an entrance, leaving a lasting impression on all who were blessed to know her.
Delmetha was preceded in death by her loving father, James H. Martin Sr.; and her grandparents, Eddie Mae and Richard Price, and Zora and Alton Martin Sr.
Delmetha leaves behind her loving mother, Sylvia Martin; her children, Gianna Green (Robert), Shavonne Galloway (Quinton), and Nickolas Galloway (Ashley); her brother, James H. Martin Jr.; her sister, Anvonsilla Griffin (Vincent); and her beloved niece, Vivianna Griffin. She was a proud and devoted Nana to Lakia, Devonte, Amiyah, Austin, Qumari, Jaxon, Ashton, and Kobe, and a cherished great-Nana to Nulaná.
Though our hearts are heavy, we gather in gratitude for the love, laughter, and countless memories she gave us. Delmetha’s legacy of faith, joy, and devotion will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
"Her heart may have grown tired, but her love and strength will live on forever."
