

Donald E. Monahan, age 85, of Columbus, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. Preceded in death by parents Donald W. and Marian G. Monahan, infant brothers Harold and David, sister Ada Jane, and wife of 42 years Mary Patricia Monahan (d. 2003). Don was born in Batavia, NY, and lived in Attica, NY, until he graduated from Canisius College in Buffalo in 1960. He and Mary Pat lived in Rome, NY for 2 years, then moved to the Columbus area where they lived in Gahanna for 39 years. Don retired from the DLA Automation Center at DSCC in 1994.
He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Silvia Montero Monahan, daughters Kathy (Brian) Martin, Chris (Troy) Kayser, and Tricia (Paul) Bright; grandchildren Abby, Christopher (Lacy), Zak (Elli), Nick (Anne), Rachel, Nina, Haley, Alex, Mary Grace; great-grandchildren Marshall, Matti, Jay and Eli; step-children Monica (Jacob) Goren, Mariana Carillo, Aurelio (Katie) Carillo, and their children Oliver and Eli, Raiden and Baldr.
Don enjoyed bowling, golf, baseball, and especially watching football – Gahanna Lincoln, Ohio State and of course, the Buffalo Bills.
Funeral service begins at 1:30pm on Friday, August 23 at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel with Interment at Mifflin Township Cemetery immediately following.
