

Columbus Alzheimer's facility on Friday November 18, 2022. A beloved daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Doris “Dotty” was born in Welch, West Virginia on April 2, 1923.
She moved with her family to the Columbus Hilltop at an early age where she grew up. Dotty attended West High School and Office Training School in Columbus, where she received several honors. She met and married her husband Richard “Dick” Sines and started their family while Dick was serving in the Navy during WWII. She was employed at the Ohio Chamber of Commerce from 1942 to 1945, until her son was born. She later held several positions with the U.S. Department of the Army between 1950 and1957. After the birth of her oldest of two daughters, she retired to care for her family. Dotty then became involved in community and education associations. She also provided daycare for several children in her neighborhood.
She is preceded in death by parents Fredrick and Florida; husband Richard; and daughter Phyllis “Kathy.”
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Steven (Teresa) of SC; son-in-law Rick; daughter Patricia (Jim); grandchildren Matthew (Brandi) and Michelle (Kameron); great grandson Nolan; sister Winona of FL; brother Fred of MI; and several loved nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Visitation will take place from 11am-1pm on Wednesday, November 23 at Schoedinger Northeast Funeral Home, 1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna, followed by a brief funeral service at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Toys for Tots at https://www.toysfortots.org/.
