Dorothy's union with her beloved husband Harold lasted 51 beautiful years, creating a legacy of eternal love. Dorothy dedicated herself to her work at Highlights for Children until her retirement. Throughout her life, she enjoyed playing tennis and volleyball, cheering on the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, Ohio State Buckeyes Basketball and Football teams. Dorothy volunteered at numerous places including nursing homes and LifeTown (where special needs students learn life skills). She spent her time reading and studying the Bible, going to Bible Studies, watching her favorite TV shows, doing crossword puzzles (with friends), playing on her iPad, and doing jigsaw puzzles. What gave her the most joy was spending time watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren learn and grow.
Dorothy is survived by her loving children, Jim Lybarger of Grandview, OH, Gary (Vickie) Lybarger of New Albany, OH, and Cathy Baker of Powell, OH; grandchildren, Alex (Jessica) Lybarger, Jillian (Brian) Fingerhut, Benjamin Baker, and Brent Baker (Gwen Stevens); great grandchildren, Logan and Carter Lybarger, Roman and Mila Fingerhut, and Beckett Baker. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00am Saturday, April 27, 2024 at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 4456 Morse Road, Columbus OH 43230, followed by a luncheon at the church. Pastor Mike Weaver will officiate. There will be no interment as Dorothy made the ultimate gift by donating her body to science.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association or to Ohio Health Hospice.
