Douglas P Huss

Doug was born in Tiffin, Ohio on June 20, 1947, to Marcellus Joseph “Butch” Huss and Louise Joanne (Paddock) Huss. He married Martha (Scheper) Huss on August 24, 1974. He is survived by his wife, daughters and sons-in-law, Beth (Christian) Secrist of Springfield, IL; Kate (Tim) Burgener of Worthington, OH; Mary Ellen Huss (Eric Helmes) of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren, Corinne and Evelyn Secrist and Henry and Louis Burgener; siblings, Mitzi Schneider, Gary (Pat) Huss, Carol Distel, and Dorothy (Mark) Steinmetz, all of Tiffin, OH; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother Jim Paddock.

A true Renaissance man, Doug embraced life with endless curiosity and a remarkable range of talents and interests. Over the years he worked many jobs, but no role was more meaningful to him than husband, father, and grandfather. He modeled a joyful partnership with his beloved wife, Marty, and quietly demonstrated that love is found in everyday acts of care. He delighted in cheering on his daughters and grandchildren, nurturing lifelong friendships, and making time for one-on-one conversations that left others feeling seen and valued.

Whether sharing a meandering story rich with memorable details, enjoying theatre and music, traveling throughout the US, Canada, and Europe, marveling in the beauty of a Lakeside sunset, or simply offering a perfectly timed pun over a dry martini, Doug approached life and every person he encountered with warmth, humor, and an open heart.

Friends may call from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 9, at the Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, August 10, 2026, at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, 807 Havens Corner Road, Gahanna, OH. The family will have a private inurnment later in Resurrection Cemetery.
