Eleanor Ann Binns

Eleanor graduated from Gahanna Lincoln High School, class of ‘56, and earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Miami University of Ohio in 1960; member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. She was a dedicated teacher for more than 30 years, spending most of her career in the Gahanna-Jefferson School District and took pride in helping her students learn, grow and reach their potential.

Eleanor cherished her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, extended family and friends, and took great joy in watching her family grow. Her family was at the center of her life as she created a home filled with care, connection and lasting memories. She especially treasured time together with family and friends playing Five Crown, Canasta, Bunco, Racko, Bingo and Double Ditto…just to name a few!

Eleanor struggled with rheumatoid arthritis all of her life and gained renewed strength when she was swimming with the ladies at the “Y” or basking in the winter sunshine of Cape Coral, Florida. She was a devoted member of Mifflin Presbyterian Church in Gahanna for over 40 years and found comfort in prayer and worship. She will be remembered for the love she gave so freely to her family and for the warmth, strength and kindness she brought to the lives of those around her.

Eleanor, affectionately known as MawMaw, is survived by her husband of 65 years, Tom Binns; daughter, Lisa Binns; grandsons, Zak Binns (Reanna) and Kyle Binns; brother, Harold Moore; sisters-in-law, Barb Lintner and Becky Ulm (Terry); many beloved nieces and nephews including Christopher, Christina, Trevor, Jason, Sherry, Robin, Michelle, Steve and Michael; daughter-in-law Elizabeth Binns; step-grandchildren, Maria and Andre Robinson (Cecilia, Edith and Sophia) and Alex and Laurel Gerhard (Wesley).

Preceded in death by her son, Eric Binns; parents, Genie Van Moore (“G.G.”) and Dewey Moore; in-laws, Dave and Ota Binns and her brother-in-law Beck Lintner.
