Erik Michael Lewellen, 27, of New Albany, passed away unexpectedly on June 13, 2022. He was born on October 4, 1994 to Larry and Lori (Kunkle) Lewellen in Columbus, Ohio. Erik graduated from Gahanna Lincoln High School and went on to attend The Ohio State University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics and was a member of the Economics Club. After graduation, Erik did project management work for Optimized Care Network, worked in Operations for Morgan Stanley, and then recently joined the team at Sequoia Financial as a Business Analyst. His work at Sequoia Financial brought him a great deal of joy and fulfillment.
When he wasn’t working, Erik loved fishing, hiking, being outdoors, playing video games, and spending time with friends. Above all, he enjoyed riding his BMW S1000R motorcycle for enjoyment and to his health club almost every day after work. Erik was deeply committed to living a joyous and healthy life as an example to others. His relationships with his family, his brother, and his friends were his world. He and his brother lived together in New Albany, Ohio.
He will be remembered as a man who liked to enjoy fast food on occasion but became dedicated to health and fitness, made his father hike up Mount Washington, loved to challenge his brother, gave of himself totally to family and friends, and liked to act tough but was a total softie for his mother, children, and pets.
He would want the rest of us to do what we love, put family and friends first, and be proud of who we are... but not take ourselves too seriously.
Erik is preceded in death by his grandfather, Larry Kunkle; grandparents Marvin & Evelyn Lewellen; uncle Kipp Horine, and cousin Caleb Kunkle.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Larry and Lori; his brother, Evan; grandmother, Lone Kunkle; aunts and uncles Mike and Kathy Kunkle, Pete Hoshor and Kim (Horine), and Jerry Lewellen; cousins Nicolis, Patrick, Daniel and (second) Eleanor Horine; Christopher and Andrew Lewellen, Cameron and Connor Kunkle.
Friends and family are invited to visiting hours on Saturday, June 25, from 3pm-6pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST, 1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna, Ohio 43230.
A Celebration of Life is planned for July 9th at Germania Singing & Sport Club, 543 South Front. St., Columbus, Ohio, from 2pm - 6pm with Shared Memories at 3:30 pm; all are welcome. We hope to have everyone join us to honor Erik and his impact on our lives.
A traditional headstone will be placed in his memory near Portland, Indiana.
