Eva Helena Walker, age 90 long-time resident of Gahanna, passed away on March 29, 2022 after a short illness. Eva rejoined her beloved husband and best friend, Leroy “Roy” Walker at Heaven’s Gate and stopped by the Rainbow Bridge to pick up her sweet Chihuahua, Peaches.
Eva retired from Gahanna Jefferson Schools, where she drove a school bus for 26 years. She was a member of the Gahanna Community Congregational Church for over 50 years. She loved summer camp working in the kitchen at Camp Tar Hollow and was a longtime Women’s Guild member. She worked years with the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of America.
After her retirement, Eva went often to her favorite hangout, TGI Friday’s in Reynoldsburg, and family knew to join her at 11am, sharp. On Saturdays, Eva was a regular at the Gahanna Grill, cheering on her Buckeyes. When she wasn’t enjoying a good meal with great company, Eva enjoyed her time at Buckeye Lake. She could be found with a McDonalds breakfast, a coffee with Three Creams (later, with no sugar), and Peaches sitting beside her.
A special thank you to Diana at TGI Friday’s for always stopping to chat with Eva. An extra special thank you to Cory Bowser, who was a bright spot in her heart. Last, thank you to the additional family she found at Chestnut Hill Senior Living, whom she loved, and to Capital City Hospice for making her more comfortable in her last days.
Eva is preceded in death by her parents Inez Lois and Adam Elmer Armbrust; husband Leroy “Roy” Walker; son Gregory Walker; grandsons Michael Gregory Walker and Eric Christopher Hand, and her 10 siblings.
She is survived by her daughter Juliana (Mariann) Parker-Walker, son Lee (Nancy) Walker and daughter Marjorie (Steve) Huffman, Grandchildren Jennifer, Matthew, Victor (Chip), Joseph, Lindsey, Megan, Caitlin, Lauren; and many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Eva’s family will welcome guests on Friday, April 8, from 4pm-6pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST, 1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna, OH 43230, with her Celebration of Life immediately to follow at 6pm, officiated by Robb Tarr and Mike Mahan.
Family is requesting masks be worn inside the building.
