Eckhardt, George age 87 passed away Monday July 8th, 2024 in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on April 27th, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Fred and Anna Eckhardt. George was a fantastic husband and grandfather to his family survived by his wife of 66 years, Barbara (Perri) Eckhardt. Three surviving children Jeaneen, Jeanette, and Jeff Eckhardt. George‘s continued legacy is (7) grandchildren Jeff, Tyler, Torey, and Jacob Eckhardt, R.J. Eckhardt-Busch, and Blake and Chase J. Needleman, and (6) great grandchildren. Levi, Alec, Jonah, Isabell, Alexander & Luca. George spent his childhood loving to play sports attending and graduating from Proviso East, Maywood, Illinois. As a young man of seventeen he professed his faith while attending his neighborhood church Elmwood Park Gospel. That is where he met the love of his Life Barbara Lee (Perri) Eckhardt. A veteran in the United States Army he served his country with honor and dedication. Most of his military time was spent in Germany which gave him the opportunity to get acquainted with his family of German descent. His professional career was spent primarily in the automotive industry. He worked and retired holding various leadership, and sales and marketing positions. George spent thirty years as a member of the Shepherd Church of the Nazarene, Gahanna. He was faithfully dedicated and enjoyed volunteering his time in the sound booth and was photographer for any occasion requested. His favorite past times were photography, boating, golf, and listening to music on his home sound systems. Visitation to be held at the Shepherd Church of the Nazarene, Gahanna, Ohio, August 3rd, 10:00am to noon with service and celebration to be with our Lord, 12:00 to 1:00pm. Family and friends to be invited to lunch after the service.
