

A very loved husband, father, grandpa and great grandpa, George Arthur Prifogle, went to live in his Heavenly forever home on April 17, 2023 at 4:49 am. George’s 88 years here on earth was a life well lived. He was a kind and gentle man. No one can recall him ever saying anything mean or negative about anyone.
This special man was born to (the late) Evelyn (Toney) Prifogle and Herbert Prifogle on October 14, 1934 in College Corner, Ohio. He has one sister, Jerelyn (Prifogle) Sawyers.
George grew up in College Corner. He attended Dixon Township High School where he played basketball for the Bulldogs. He graduated in the class of 1952. After graduation he wanted to serve his country so he joined the Air Force. He graduated Air Force Training Command in 1957 at Shepherd Air Force Base, Texas. He graduated Airman 3rd class. George went on to attend Miami University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in business. Shortly after, he began working as an accountant for the Housing and Urban Development in Washington D.C. His career there lasted 37 years. There is Washington D.C. is where he met the love of his life Karen Sue (Knecht). He adored her from the start and they were married 59 ½ years.
George was a quiet man but he was fun loving. He had many hobbies. He was an avid bowler, was on bowling leagues and won several trophies. He liked to take pictures, collect stamps, and coins, and travel and camp. He enjoyed gardening. His specialty was tomatoes. His favorite hobby was square dancing with his beloved wife Karen, they were members of a square dancing club square wheels. They traveled and danced at fairs, campgrounds and conventions.
George Arthur Prifogle is survived by his much loved wife, Karen Sue (Knecht) Prifogle, his two children Patty Prifogle Robinson and James Prifogle, his 5 grandchildren, Sarah, Seth, Samuel, Abigail, and Anna; and one great grandson, Anthony Olmedo. Also he is survived by his sister, Jerelyn (Sawyers) Prifogle and three nieces, Natalie Brock, Jackie Sawyers, and Shelley Cheek.
We will all miss George, he showed his love in many ways. He was always there when we needed help. He never missed a birthday, special occasion, or holiday with his family. His grandchildren referred to him as the “Lean mean spoiling machine”.
Dear George, wonderful husband, grandpa, great grandpa-we will miss you everyday. But we have peace knowing you are happy and healthy dancing with your Lord and Savior, Jesus. This thing called death is not a goodbye, but a “we will see you later” Love you so much, till we meet again, Your Family.
A visitation will be held at Schoedinger Margarum Funeral Home 1051 E Johnstown Road, Gahanna, OH, 43230 on April 26th, 11:00am-1:00pm with service to follow. Interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
