Geraldine J. Wieszczek-Shoemaker

Geraldine J. Wieszczek-Shoemaker, age 88, passed peacefully Friday, May 8, 2026, at her home. She was born on January 11, 1938 in Jersey City, New Jersey. After marrying the love of her life, Cas, on September 13th, 1958, the two moved to Ohio where she resided until her death.

Geri worked as a legal secretary alongside James Thompson at the law firm of Thompson, Swope, Burns & Biswas where she was named Columbus’ Legal Secretary of the Year. Geri had numerous hobbies including Majong, Book Club and being a member of her communities Social Committee. She eagerly looked forward to Saturday’s during the college football season so she could cheer on her Buckeyes with vigor! Geri was a devoted mother, wife, daughter, sibling, aunt and friend who left behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering support for her family and friends. Though she has left this world, her spirit will forever remain in our hearts.

Geraldine is survived by her son, Cas (Laura) Wieszczek III , step-son Michael Shoemaker and daughter, Melissa Wieszczek; grandsons, Joshua McGhee and Cas (Talisa) Wieszczek IV and granddaughter, Makenzie Wieszczek; great-granddaughters, Nahlyn, Aria, Collette, Aurora, Bernadette and Catherine; her dear brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Marie Largmann and many cherished nieces, nephews and friends, especially the community at Collingwood Pointe, who have been a big part of her life for 25+ years and have shown her nothing but kindness and love.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, Hyman and Martha (McCann) Largmann; her loving husband of 41 years, Cas Wieszczek Jr; husband Richard R. Shoemaker; siblings, Adolph Largmann, Barbara (Don) Brady, Roy (Linda-living) Largmann, Ronnie (Pat), Largmann, Dolores (Sis) (Matty) Scifo and Harry (Hap) Beverly) Largmann.

Viewing will be held at Schoedinger Margarum Northeast, 1051 E Johnstown Road, Gahanna, OH 43230, US, on May 17, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Church of the Resurrection, 6300 E Dublin Granville Rd, New Albany, OH 43054, US, on May 18, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.

A Committal Service will take place at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 11539 National Rd SW, Pataskala, OH 43062, US, on May 18, 2026, from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm.

A Repast Luncheon Dinner and Celebration of Life will be held at Church of the Resurrection, 6300 E. Dublin-Granville Road, New Albany, Ohio 43054, on May 18, 2026, from 1:15 pm to 3:30 pm.
