

Helen Maxine Deffenbaugh, a long-time resident of Gahanna and a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2024, at the age of 93. Helen was born in New Lexington, Ohio on July 22, 1931.
Helen's life was marked by her unwavering love for her family. She devoted herself entirely to her husband, children, and grandchildren. Helen became renowned for her compassion toward stray cats. She had an incredible ability to attract, care and love for any in need. Helen spent part of her career as a receptionist at a local dentist's office, where her friendly demeanor made her a favorite among patients. She was also deeply involved in her church community and will be greatly missed by her women's prayer group, a circle of friends who shared her faith and friendship.
She is survived by her children, Dan Deffenbaugh Jr., Jeni (Greg) Jones, and Karen (Scott) Evans, as well as her grandchildren, Aiden Leigh (Noah) Nelson and Helena Evans, sisters- in-law, Helen (Larry) Lintner and Virginia Gonino; brother-in-laws; John Nobile and David Serio and special friend Avery.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Daniel Deffenbaugh, parents; Albert Wyrick and Dessie (Kuhn) Wyrick, sisters; Judy Nobile and Carolyn Serio and sister- in- law, Kathleen (Dale) Klamfoth.
The family will receive friends on Saturday 14, 2024 from 10:00 am- 11:30 am at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna. A funeral service will be held on Saturday September 14, 2024 at 11:30 am with Pastor Ronald D. Lokhorst officiating. Helen will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Helen’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
