

Irene Leticia Arras, born September 27, 1945 in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, April 23, 2022. She became a U.S. Naturalized Citizen in 1960 in El Paso, Texas.
Irene started her education in El Paso. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School and attended classes at Texas Western College, now known as the University of Texas at El Paso, where she studied Spanish. In 1982, she attended American River Community College in Sacramento, California.
In a Catholic Ceremony on July 21, 1967, she married Raymundo E. Arras. They shared 54 wonderful years married and had two children.
Irene’s major interests and hobbies included her dedication to family, employment history in accounting ending with her final position as Bookkeeper/Assistant Collections Administrator at Nationwide Credit Collection Agency until her retirement in 1982 to become a full-time homemaker.
Other hobbies included serious study in music. She received vocal lessons and was tutored by professionals from the San Francisco Metropolitan Opera. Irene learned to and took pleasure in singing Spanish language recordings and took immense pleasure in American Standards. She found joy in singing to friends and local church groups. Irene’s second passion was her deep love of horses in which she exceeded with horsemanship lessons over several years, owned several quarter horses, enjoyed many equestrian events in Virginia, and participated in several Fox Hunts with both the Piedmont Fox and Middleburg Fox Hunt Clubs of Northern Virginia.
As time permitted, Irene did volunteer work for the Purple Heart Association.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Maria Luisa Gaytan de Franco and Victor Eduardo Gaytan; her son, Raymundo E. Arras II.
She will be deeply missed by her devoted husband, Raymundo Arras; daughter, Laura (Kirk) Wall; sister Patricia Y Moore; and brother Victor Gaytan.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST.
