Jeanenne Breece Mader

Born on March 3, 1930, to Francis and Laura Effler, Jeanenne grew up in Gahanna, Ohio, where she spent most of her life.

One of Jeanenne’s favorite stories was that she turned three years old on March 3, 1933 (3/3/33), a milestone that earned her a feature in The Columbus Dispatch.

In 1950, she married her high school sweetheart, Roderic Breece, and together they raised five children. They shared many years of marriage before Roderic’s passing in 1991. Jeanenne was fortunate to find love again when she married Robert Mader in 2004. They enjoyed ten years together before Robert’s passing in 2014.

Over the years, she created countless memories with her family, filled with laughter and time spent together. She also enjoyed her time in Florida, where she and Bob shared many happy times and often welcomed visits from family.

Jeanenne is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Sorem (Peter) and Jennifer Hale (Dave), who lovingly cared for her in her later years; her grandchildren, Lindsey Rossi, Michaela Hauenstein (Carl), Matthew Sorem (Jessica), and Abigail Breece (Tim); and her great-grandchildren, Mia (Ethan), Dominic, Daniel, Sophia, and Samuel. She is also survived by the Mader boys, Jeffrey (Debi), Thomas (Rondi), and Michael (Susan), as well as her longtime Bunco friends of more than 70 years, Glenna King and Nancy Blake.

She was preceded in death by her infant brother, Paul Francis; her parents; her husbands, Roderic Breece and Robert Mader; and her sons, Daniel, Michael, and Eric. Throughout her life, Jeanenne showed remarkable strength and resilience through both joy and heartbreak, remaining steadfast in love and devotion.

Jeanenne was dearly loved by her family. Her radiance, grace, resilience, and quick wit will be remembered always, but most of all she will be missed for the way she made each of us feel deeply loved and special, simply by being our Nana.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 17 at 11:00 AM in the Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel at St. Joseph Cemetery in Lockbourne, Ohio.
