John Patrick Glodowski

John Patrick Glodowski, 71, of Pataskala, Ohio passed away on Wednesday May 17, 2023. He was born January 28, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Roman and Eileen (Morris) Glodowski.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Teresa. He is survived by his wife Barbara, his daughter Julie M van der Wal and husband Harwin van der Wal, and grandson Jarno. He is also survived by his sister Diana Sable, and brother Peter Glodowski, sister and brother-in-law Angela and Robin Young, and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was a 1970 graduate of Warren Mott High School. On the campus of Wayne State University in Detroit, he met the love of his life, Barbara Joan Gruss. They married on August 28, 1976 at St. Columban Church in Birmingham, Michigan.

John retired from Union Local 149 in Detroit where he had worked as a Commercial Roofer for over 30 years. After retirement, he and Barbara moved to Florida where he loved to swim and visit Siesta Key Beach. John was a certified U.S. Masters Swimming Adult Learn to Swim instructor and taught many people to successfully swim. John had a passion for trading in the stock market throughout his life. He always liked to improve the homes he lived in and was handy with tools.

After the birth of his grandson Jarno, he and Barbara moved up to Pataskala, Ohio. John loved taking care of Jarno who he watched during the weekdays. He enjoyed attending Mass and was a devout Catholic. He was Jarno’s Godfather and took him to Mass weekly.

A Committal Service will take place Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. in the East Chapel at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, 25800 W. 10 Mile Rd, Southfield, Michigan 48033.
