

John C. Pace Sr. was born on December 3, 1930, in Americus, Georgia. John transitioned on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 5:30 PM, at The Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, surrounded by his beloved family.
John was preceded in death by his devoted wife of nearly 70 years, Mary J. Pace. He is survived by his daughters, Gwen and Joyce Pace, and sons, Johnny Pace and John Pace Jr. John Sr. was one of the first African Americans in leadership at The Ohio State University in the 1960s where he served as manager of the campus mail department. John attended Morehouse College and earned a BA in Accounting from Bliss College. After dedicating his life to Christ and serving in the church for 7 decades, he retired as the Emeritus Bishop of the Apostolic Glorious Church, where he was Pastor and Founder.
Bishop Pace lived out his faith through service—caring for those in need, including church members in their final stage of life. He was called home to be with the Lord after lovingly serving as the caregiver to his beloved wife, Mary J. Pace, for 15 years, until her passing in March 2025.
Bishop Pace’s homegoing celebration will take place on Friday, June 13, 2025, at the Original Glorious Church, located at 2030 Joyce Avenue, Columbus, OH 43219. The viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, followed by the service from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM. Interment will follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate, 8029 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg, Ohio 43068.
