
Born on October 08, 1948, in Bloomingburg, Ohio, John was the beloved son of Flournoy and Madonna Stevenson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bethany Stinson Stevenson; his daughter, Katherine Stevenson; his brother, Lloyd Hill; and his sister, Edna Stevenson.
John is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; his children Shannon Valka, David (Kori) Stevenson, Sarah (Kala) Radl; his stepdaughter Nicole (Ken) Amicon; his sister Delnora “Dee” Stevenson; his brother-in-law Manly (Connie) Stinson; several cherished grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A devoted physician, John practiced medicine for over 46 years. He operated a private practice in Lancaster, Ohio as an obstetrician-gynecologist for more than 22 years, during which he delivered over 6,500 babies. After retiring from obstetrics, he served as Medical Director at Fairfield Medical Center for seven years and later dedicated 12 years to the field of addiction medicine.
John earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from THE Ohio State University in 1974, and his Doctor of Medicine from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, Mexico, in 1978. He was a Resident Doctor for four years at Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio where he ultimately became the Chief Resident.
John was enlisted in the US Army for two years as part of the 101st Airborne Division.
An avid golfer, John found joy both on the green and in spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of John to The Recovery Center, 201 S. Columbus Street, Lancaster, Ohio.
