Predeceased by her father, Ronald Rohletter, and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Eleanor and Bernard Leitwein, and Xichigan’s hopes of a national championship. Survived by her loving husband, Norm Leitwein, and her pride and joy, sons, Zachary (fiancée Rachel) and Zane; her mother, Rosemarie Rohletter; siblings, Debbie (Keith) Pecinovsky, Daniel (Christine Carvajal) Rohletter, Diane (Denny) Irwin, Janet (Jeff) Cundiff, and Jenny (Steve) Diewald, along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
She left the Moondance way too early for all concerned. WE will remember Julie as an incredible daughter, sister, cousin, wife, mother, aunt, and friend. Julie was a proud (to say the least) graduate of The Ohio State University and earned her MBA in marketing from Franklin University. She served as a Senior Director of Compliance for Nationwide for over 20 years earning the love, admiration and respect of her leaders and co-workers alike.
Julie loved Norm and her sons, OSU, and her family, in that order, except when OSU lost and then her family would briefly move into second place until OSU redeemed itself. She taught Norm the true meaning of the mantra, “happy wife, happy life”, but in the most loving sort of way. Theirs was a true partnership and a tremendous marriage. She was an inspiration to both her sons and was their greatest cheerleader, literally and figuratively.
While no longer physically with us, we will never, ever forget her indomitable spirit, her inimitable laugh, her extreme courage, her compassion, and passion for those she loved and her tell-it-like it is attitude. There will never be another like her.
Julie is now in heaven having already located Jimmy Buffet’s lost shaker of salt. She has likely put him on a performance improvement plan and scheduled a 90 day follow up meeting to make sure he doesn’t lose it again.
Ever the party planner, she initiated the annual “cookie party” where she subjected her house to her 16 nieces and nephews “baking and decorating” Christmas cookies for their families; creating order out of chaos; and creating a lifetime of memories for our family.
“Always remember there was nothing worth sharing like the Love that let us share our name.”
The Rohletter and Leitwein families would like to thank all the friends, neighbors, relatives, and co-workers for all their kind words, thoughts, support and prayers during this difficult time. We would also like to offer our profound gratitude to Capital City Hospice and nurses Cindy, Ashley, Donna, and Kat, who went above and beyond to care for our Julie. They were remarkable.
Finally, we would like to give a special thanks to our cousin, Cathy Arnett, without who we would never have been able to endure this tragic odyssey. Her care, compassion and understanding were without parallel, and we will never be able to repay her for what she has done. She was truly an angel on earth.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2023, from 3pm-7pm at Schoedinger Northeast, 1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna, OH 43230. Julie’s memorial service will be held the following morning at the funeral home, beginning at 11am. Services will conclude with a funeral procession to Holy Cross Cemetery for her inurnment.
In Julie’s memory, family encourages guests to dress casually or wear their favorite Scarlet and Grey attire.
