Kimberly A. Hanners, 65, of Columbus, passed away on May 31, 2026. She was born on August 19, 1960, to the late Harold and Janet (Thompson) Himes. Kim graduated from Gahanna Lincoln High School in 1978 and went on to work as a receptionist in Columbus.
Kim’s favorite season, summer, was ideally spent reading while sunbathing on tropical beach vacations. She also loved rock ‘n’ roll music and was the number one fan of her husband and brother-in-law’s band, attending their gigs all over town.
Those who knew her will miss her playful sense of humor and contagious laugh. She was effortlessly cool, with her trademark long hair, pastel clothes, and turquoise jewelry.
Kim was an avid cat lover, finding great companionship with her rambunctious cats, Gus and Sid. Her nieces and nephew are grateful for her constant supportive presence throughout their lives, attending birthdays, graduations, and school performances.
In addition to her parents, Kim was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hanners; brother Benjamin Himes; and her brother-in-law, Larry Troyan. She will be greatly missed by her sisters, Lori Troyan and Angela B. (Terry) Davidson; nieces and nephew, Cassandra Troyan, Torie (Ryan) Osborne, and Cody Troyan; aunt Judi (Ken) Hollander and uncles Mike Thompson and Randy (Nancy) Thompson; and numerous cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
The family would like to thank the OSU James Cancer Hospital for the compassionate care and attention that Kim received throughout her fight with cancer.
Per her wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the James Fund for Life in Kim’s memory.
