A Brecksville High School 1969 graduate, Larry was a varsity athlete in both football and wrestling while also being involved in the theatre program and singing in the barbershop quartet. The summer of his junior year Larry was chosen by the American Field Service to spend a summer living with a host family in Spain, where he ran with the bulls.
A lover of all types of music, Larry was an accomplished accordionist, whose talents brought him to perform at the 1964 New York World’s Fair.
While attending Ohio State University, Larry worked as a chef at Smuggler’s Inn inside the former Hilton before meeting longtime friends that would get him started in the construction industry. In those early days, he met the love of his life, Lori, and they married in 1983.
Larry spent nearly fifty years working at J.L. and Lacko Poured Walls, overseeing much of the development of concrete foundation homes in Central Ohio. He maintained a lifelong passion for cooking and baking, preparing elaborate holiday meals for his family and spending his summers grilling, smoking meat, and gardening with his wife.
Eclectic by nature, Larry was a proverbial jack-of-all-trades, sewing Halloween costumes for his children, woodworking, and starting DIY projects around the home. Having so many varied interests, Larry was a collector of model cars, watches, cigars, nutcrackers, and countless oddities.
Larry will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 42 years and their three children, Cassandra, Torie (Ryan) Osborne, and Cody. He leaves behind his siblings Pat Good, Barb (Dave) Froelich, Ron (Karen) Troyan, Tracy Clarke, Tamara (Mark) Downey, as well as his ten nieces and nephews.
