Mary Buff

Mary Alice (Rude) Buff, of New Albany, Ohio, passed away surrounded by loving family on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at StoryPoint Gahanna North. She was extremely devoted to her family and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade H. Buff, who died in 2022; and by her sons, David Buff and Darren Buff; and her sister, Betty Rom.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Don Delgado, Westerville; Jeannie and Rick Mayes, New Albany; grandchildren, David (Olivia) Berrier, Keith (Alyssa) Berrier, Jonathan Mayes, Jared Mayes, Connor Mayes, Sydney Delgado, and Stephanie Tabor; great-grandchildren Minerva, Francesca, Keigan, and Logan Berrier; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mary was born in Miami, Florida on August 30, 1934 to William and Hespah Rude. She spent 10 years of her childhood living in Cuba. She graduated from Miami Edison High School and attended The University of Florida where she met her husband of 66 years, Wade Buff. Mary worked for Bell Telephone then started a family where she dedicated her whole heart to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved watching game shows and football and was an avid walker.

She grew up playing organ and piano in church. Years ago, she traveled with and played backup for her husband Wade, a founding member of the music group the Dream Weavers, who had a top 10 hit titled “It’s Almost Tomorrow.” (https://youtu.be/1Zxot3e_kGA?si=LM-lmn1GdkkG3BWZ).

Wade and Mary also traveled all over the world together, especially loving visiting Hong Kong and going on cruises.

She was devoted to the staff, caregivers, and residents at StoryPoint Gahanna North, where she made her home the last few years. She truly made an impact on so many people.

A Graveside Service where she will be interred next to her husband and sons in Blendon Central Cemetery will occur at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 17, 2026.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at StoryPoint Gahanna North, 5435 Morse Road, Gahanna.
