Mathew "Mat" Flanagan

Mathew “Mat” Flanagan, born September 4,1950, passed away far too soon on March 9, 2026. He is survived by his wife, Magaly; stepson, Juan; siblings Terry (Barb), Denny (Paula), and Taffy; as well as many nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Blacklick, Ohio,

Mat dedicated his life to his community. He owned Flanagan’s Pub after taking it over from his father in the 1970s and ran it until passing it on to his niece and nephew in 2020. And although he was not involved in the day to day, he was still up there most days checking in on things. He also proudly served as a Jefferson Township Trustee for 28 years taking great pride in helping the township grow into where it is today.

Mat was a confidant, a mentor, a friend to so many. He always had time for a story. He had an infectious laugh that put everyone at ease. He treated everyone like family and will be deeply missed.

A visitation will be held on Sunday March 22, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm at Schoedinger Northeast 1051 E Johnstown Road Gahanna, OH 43230. A celebration of Mat's life will be at Flanagan's Pub 3001 Reynoldsburg-New Albany Rd Blacklick OH 43004 on March 22, 2026 from 2:00pm-5:00pm. Feel free to stop in and share your favorite memory.
