Matthew Dean Hayes

Matthew Dean Hayes, Age 40, passed away Tuesday, April 11th 2023 at Mount Carmel East Hospital. He was born on January 3rd 1983 in Columbus, OH to Christopher and Brenda Hayes. Matt worked doing lawn maintenance and raised 4 children. He attended Licking Heights High School in 1998 through 2002. Matt was always quick to help others. He was an organ donor and will help someone see again someday. On April 7th 2005 he started dating Emily Abshire, the love of his life. They were together for 18 years. He loved his children and Emily more than anything. Matt loved to man the grill during Sunday Family dinners. He also loved video games, target shooting, 4-wheeling, dirt bike riding, camping and playing with all the kids. He was a big kid at heart and loved joking around with everyone. He devoted the last two years of his life to the Lord. Matt is survived by his parents Christopher and Brenda Hayes. Children Malachi and Hailey Hayes. Stepson James Daugherty, Stepdaughter Jasmin Grzweaviak. Sister Kristy Hayes. Nephew Christian Hayes, Niece Liberty Asberry of Pataskala, OH. Friends may gather on Tuesday, April 18 from 4PM-7PM at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST 1051 E Johnstown Rd., where the funeral service will take place on Wednesday, April 19 at 9AM, with interment to follow at Mifflin Cemetery.
