Becky was born June 29, 1930 in Cambridge, Ohio and was raised there with her seven siblings before leaving to attend Michigan State University. While in college, she developed her love of theater. She graduated in 1952 and went on to work in TV production, theater, and then sales, where she met her husband Claude “Herb” Handley. They settled in Gahanna, Ohio, where she raised their three boys. Becky later became a high school teacher, specializing in English and Drama.
Becky dedicated nearly 30 years of her life as an English teacher at Bishop Hartley High School. During her time there, she was able to share her passion for theater with students as a leader in the Drama department. Along with her love of teaching, literature, and theater, she was an avid card player and played bridge with the same wonderful group of friends for over 50 years. She enjoyed traveling, both in the United States to visit family and across the world to explore new countries. At home, Becky loved playing with her grandkids, and she kept her mind busy with crossword puzzles, reading, crocheting, and nightly Jeopardy viewings. Her greatest passion of all, however, was her family. Becky will be fondly remembered for her endearing smile, sharp wit, passion for storytelling, and love of helping others.
