

Richard A Alpers “Dick” age 88 of New Albany, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023. He was born May 26, 1935 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late William and Ella (Feldscher) Alpers. In addition to his parents, Dick is preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law Verghn and Clara Horger, his brothers-in-law Verghn Horger, Leo Korpieski and Bill McDonough and sister-in-law Dorothy Horger
Dick is survived by his loving wife Marjorie Alpers, sister JoAnne McDonough, sister-in-law Paula Korpieski, son Roy (Melinda) Morais, daughters Linda Alpers and Lori (Marty) Hansen, grandchildren Shane (Leah) Morais, Luke (Maddie Shutler) Morais, Kyle (Ali Markley) Morais, Sydney Hansen and Mitchell Hansen, as well as many nieces and nephews
Dick served in the US Air Force for 10 years following high school. After his military service, he had a 40-year career driving a semi-truck. He enjoyed watching stock car racing, the Cleveland Browns, cooking shows, and the grandkids' sporting events. After his retirement, Dick and Marjie spent a portion of each winter in Las Vegas with their family there. He loved his wife, his kids, his grandkids, his dogs, and playing video poker.
Friends may gather at Schoedinger Northeast, 1051 E Johnstown Rd, Gahanna, Ohio on Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 5PM to 7PM. The Funeral service will take place the following day at the Funeral Home, Monday, December 18, 2023, beginning at 2PM with Pastor Don Lorfing officiating.
