
Sarah Catherine (Renner) Platt passed away June 16, 2026. She was born November 4, 1929, the eldest of three children, to Edward William and Elva Irene (Smail) Renner of Scottdale, PA., both deceased. She graduated in the 1947 June class of Warren G. Harding Senior High School in Warren, Ohio. While in school, she was active in all school activities and the National Honor Society, and in 1946, was given the honor of being Queen for the annual “Crystal Ball.” After graduating, she was employed by the Warren Telephone Company and later by Dr. Charles White D.D.S., where she became a Certified Dental Assistant. She also worked at Daniels Motor Freight. Moving to Columbus in 1959, she was employed at Western Electric (AT&T Network Systems) for 29 years. She married Carroll G. Platt in 1961 and remained married for 41 years until 2002 when he passed away.
Besides her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her sister, Joey, and brother-in-law, Julius Nagy, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, step-son Raymond J. Platte, and step-daughter, Alice L. Platte.
She is survived by her son, Robert C. (Sandy) Platte, brother Edward (Cindy) Renner, of Warren, Ohio, grandchildren Robert M. (Beth) Platte, Amy L. Wagner, step-grandson, Michael (Kelly) Platte, of New Albany, Suzanne (Matt) Beaky, of PA, great grandchildren Andrew Ward, Hanna and Hayden Wagner, Lincoln and Kenny Platte and step grandchildren Chloe, Cassidy, and Ray Platte and her great-great granddaughter, Ellie, and great-great grandson, Eli Ward, several nieces and nephews, and five cousins in Scottdale, PA.
She was a member of Stonybrook Methodist Church in Gahanna, Ohio. She was a 65-year member of Reber Chapter #161 (Evans #191) Order of the Eastern Star serving as Worthy Matron numerous times and Secretary over 30 years. She was also a member of the Worthington Chapter #287 OES, Grand Representative of Massachusetts in Ohio from 1983-1984, 17th District president (1980) and State President of OES District Officers Association 1990, Past Queen (1991) and Banker of Thebes Temple #87 Daughters of the Nile for 19 years, members of Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America for over 40 years, charter member of Harmony Court Order of the Amaranth and the Telephone pioneers. Sarah was an avid reader, loved to sew and crochet, especially for the children at the Shriners Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. As active as she was in the fraternal organizations, her family came first and she loved them best of all.
A private committal service will be held by the family at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Columbus, Ohio, at a later date.
