Shirley Lewis, a devoted mother, grandmother, and woman of unwavering faith, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025, at the age of 88. Born in Columbus, Ohio, Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Margret and William Moore; Stepdad Vernon Clark, her siblings Robert Moore, William Moore, Beverly Moore, and Mary Williams; and her granddaughter Brittany Anderson.
She is lovingly remembered by her four children—David Lewis (wife Cindy), Danny Lewis (wife Vienna), Holly Hernandez (husband Lupe), and Heidi Thomas (husband Gary)—who were the center of her world. Her legacy continues through her nine grandchildren—Crystal (husband Schyler), Christopher, Joseph, Connor, Trevor, Ashley, Spencer, Zachary, and Mae (husband John)—and three great-grandchildren—Charlotte, Teagan, and Jaxson.
Shirley’s life was a testament to her deep love for God. She found joy in sharing her faith with others, often beginning conversations with, “Do you know Jesus?” Her church community was her second home, and she found great comfort in singing her favorite hymns.
A proud Ohio State Buckeyes fan and Jeopardy enthusiast, Shirley had a vibrant personality and a sharp wit. She also enjoyed needlepoint, garage sales, and bargain hunting at local thrift stores. Her family fondly remembers her early morning birthday calls, always accompanied by a cheerful rendition of “Happy Birthday.”
Shirley’s dedication to her children was unmatched—driving them to swim lessons, scouting events, and school programs, and helping them become top candy sellers through her tireless support. Her love, strength, and selflessness will forever be cherished by all who knew her.
A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at Trinity Assembly of God, 1112 Demorest Rd. #7003, Columbus, Ohio 43204, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor her memory by making a donation to your local church.
