

Susan Elizabeth Satterwhite (Schmidt), known affectionately as Sue, passed away peacefully in her sleep, on December 1, 2024, at the age of 76 in Columbus, Ohio. Born on September 3, 1948, in Washington DC, Sue was a cherished figure who walked in faith with the Lord.
Sue led a distinguished career as the Chief Executive and Operating Officer of the Satterwhite Family Inc., where she was respected for her leadership, vision, and daily blessings. Sue was deeply committed to her faith and enjoyed a variety of hobbies that enriched her life and the lives of those around her. She was a faithful servant of the Lord, an avid puppeteer, lay-minister, a skilled seamstress, and a joyful singer. She was also a talented baker- known especially for her Christmas cookies, which she loved to make with her sister (typically while singing), children, nieces and nephews, and then later with her grandchildren.
Sue is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Daniel; their children Cassandra (Jim) Hassel (4), Betsy Decker (5), Matthew (Cathleen) Satterwhite (3), Sarah Brokaw, Robert Brokaw (1), Kim (Kris) Daily (3), and Keri Satterwhite; and their 16 amazing grandchildren. She also leaves behind her dedicated sister and partner in crime Judy (John) Darvish and loving nieces and nephews. Sue also leaves behind a close friend that provided so much love over these final days in Suzi Navratil.
Sue’s family remembers her as a guiding light filled with warmth and wisdom. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, William and Dolores Schmidt, and her brother, William Schimdt, Jr.
Sue’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith and her commitment to her family and the many friends she leaves behind across the country. Sue was a prayer warrior who stood ready and able to pray with or for anyone at any time. Sue will be missed and we share her favorite blessing that she gave her children whenever they left her and offer it up for each of you: “May God send Angels to watch over you and keep you safe!”
Family will receive guests from 2-3pm followed by a celebration of life will be held in her honor at Schoedinger Funeral Home, 1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna, OH 43230 on Friday, December 6th, 2024, at 3pm, with a brief reception to follow.
