On November 3, 2025, Terry E. Reed passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family, at the age of 79. Terry was born on October 18, 1946, in Springfield, Ohio, to parents Robert and Donna Reed.
Terry was raised in Springfield and graduated from Northeastern High School in Clark County. After high school, he attended and graduated from Ashland University, where he was a co-captain on the 1968-69 AP-UPI National Champion basketball team.
Terry began a teaching and coaching career at Northwestern High School in Wayne County, where he coached basketball, football, and track. Terry developed a passion for coaching basketball, and his career would eventually take him to Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio, where he coached as an assistant and met Pam. Terry and Pam were married on May 24, 1975, in Tiffin.
After his fourth season coaching at Heidelberg, Terry and Pam moved to Gahanna, Ohio, where Terry finished his teaching and coaching career. Terry taught math and was the head basketball coach at Gahanna Lincoln High School for 8 years, winning the league championship in 1978.
At the conclusion of his coaching career, Terry spent the next 28 years working for Economy Forms Corporation (EFCO), designing and selling steel forms for concrete structures. Some of his projects included the original construction of both the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Huntington Bank Field (Cleveland Browns stadium), as well as the expansion and renovation of Ohio Stadium.
Terry and Pam made Gahanna their home and raised their two sons, David (born in 1978) and Chris (born in 1981), in a house in Jefferson Township, which Terry designed and built. Many will remember Terry for his handiness, work ethic, and attention to detail that he gave to his home and his yard.
Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Terry was known for his faith in Jesus Christ, love for his family, and his compassion, humility, and grace for all of God’s people. Along with Pam, Terry was a devout member of Mifflin Presbyterian Church in Gahanna. He and Pam enjoyed helping to lead youth programs at church, such as youth fellowship and Mifflin’s long-running youth cantata. He also loved being involved in the lives of his grandchildren, which included attending sporting events, dance recitals, and various competitions.
Terry and Pam celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary earlier this year.
Terry is survived by his wife, Pamela Sue Reed; sons, David (Erica) Reed and Chris (Amy) Reed; five grandchildren, Drew, Jenna, Noah, Scarlett, and Brooks; siblings, Gary (Brenda) Reed, Cindy Chesnut, Bruce (Annette) Reed, and Greg (Ellen) Reed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Donna Reed; brother-in-law, David Brooks; and brother-in-law, Bill Chesnut.
Family will greet friends on Saturday, November 22, at 10:00 AM at Mifflin Presbyterian Church, 123 Granville St., Gahanna, Ohio 43230, immediately followed by the memorial service at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will follow the memorial service.
