

Theodore Ward Maddox, warmly known as Bill, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday July 23, 2023. Bill came into the world on April 24, 1939 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Richard W. Maddox and Edna Koerber. Bill relocated to Columbus, Ohio with his family. He graduated from East High School to become a loved and cherished upholsterer of Bill’s Furniture Repair established in 1961 and later to become Northland Upholstery for over 40 years.
True to his love for restoring vintage items, Bill spent most days restoring his Willy pickup truck which he raced in national drag race competitions. He was a prominent member of the Trotter’s Club where he served a long tenure as club president. The Trotter’s Club was an African American Club formed in the mid-1950’s which raced in national Hot Rod Association’s drag race competitions, hosted an annual Car show, founded their own local mechanic and repair shop and even helped to teach young people vehicle mechanics as well.
Preceded in death by parents Richard W. and Edna Maddox, brothers Forest (Bubble), Edward (Sonny) and sister Lillian Maddox.
He leaves to cherish his memories with his life partner Adriana Monge Kelley, daughter Nadia S. Leggett, granddaughter Amara N. Leggett, sister Ann Hurd, nephews Eric Maddox, Greg Maddox, Ralph Hurd Jr.; niece, Gwen Hurd, along with a host of family, and lifetime friends.
A visitation will be held from 10am-11am at Schoedinger Northeast, 1051 E Johnstown Rd, Gahanna, ohio 43230 immediately followed by a funeral service at 11am.
