Born to the late Thomas and Dorothy Nerny, Tom grew up in the community, graduating from Bishop Hartley High School in 1964 before attending Franklin University. A proud veteran, he served in the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1967. Tom was a man who appreciated the simple pleasures in life—he loved nothing more than casting a fishing line, relaxing in the beauty of the outdoors, and, above all, spending time with the family he loved so dearly.
Tom’s legacy lives on through his beloved wife of 48 years, Kathy Baker Nerny; his sons, Brian (Sandy) Nerny and Chris Nerny; and his adored grandchildren, Connor, Bella, Nathan, and Ellie. He is also survived by his sisters, Nancy Nerny, Mary (Bob) Mayhan, and Judy (Dan) Dorr; a special nephew, Rick Burchfield, and his family, Angie, Kaitlyn, and Megan; lifelong friend, Ray Reinhart; and a large, loving extended family of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
