

Wallace W. Yau, 89, and passed away at his home in New Albany, Ohio, on February 20, 2026. He was a thoughtful and caring man; a loving husband and father who will be missed. He was born in Shanghai, China, on February 20, 1937, and later moved to Taiwan. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from National Taiwan University in 1959, and later, a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1966. His career spanned more than five decades working for DuPont, Chevron, and other companies. He is best known for his expertise in the field of gel permeation chromatography (GPC), where he held six patents, authored more than 80 research papers and journal articles, and co-authored the leading textbook on the subject.
He lived a wonderful life and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed watching basketball and soccer, traveling, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Ailing, two daughters, Amy (Dan Leach) and Bonny, and his son, Stanley.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026 from 2:00pm-3:00pm at Schoedinger Northeast, 1051 East Johnstown Rd. Gahanna, Ohio 43230.
