William (Bill) James Brandenberger, 76, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on March 3, 2026. Born on July 26, 1949, Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather (“Papoo”), cousin, and a dear friend to all who knew him. He was quick witted, loved to laugh (and make people laugh), and always had a joke ready for any moment.
Bill spent more than 30 years as a salesman in the gas and welding supply industry, where he was known for his dedication, reliability, and the easy way he connected with people. Outside of work, he found joy in the outdoors—hunting, fishing, boating on Lake Erie—and most of all, in the game of golf. He loved to travel, especially to Las Vegas where he and Della were married. He also enjoyed old TV shows and movies, cheering for the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians, and sharing music with Molly. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandsons, Anthony and Matthew, grow up, and he loved reminiscing about the games they played together, especially “Freeze Out.”
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Della; his daughters Molly (Brad) and their children Dylan and Jackson, and Courtney (Donnie) and their children Anthony, Matthew, Taylor and Blake; and his cousin Ralph (Rosemary) Billiter. They will forever carry forward his love of life, his humor, and the warmth he brought into every room. Bill was preceded in death by his mother Mary Pauline Brandenberger; and his father Marion “Doc” Brandenberger.
No services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local animal rescue organization or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, causes very close to his heart.
