Alma Lawrence

Alma Lawrence, a resident of Gardendale, Alabama, was born in Shades Mountain, Alabama on April 23, 1928 and she passed away peacefully on November 21, 2017 at the age of 89. Alma retired from Protective Life Insurance Company after over 20 years of service. She was a long time member of Gardendale Presbyterian Church. She loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them and she was lovingly known as “Mamaw” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved her dogs and always considered them as part of her family.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents, George and Elizabeth Fitzgerald; her loving husband, Lowery Hugh Lawrence; her son; Daniel Hugh Lawrence; a daughter, Katherine J. Richardson; sisters, Mary Reed, Sara Snow, Evelyn Boozer, and Betty McKinney.

Alma is survived by her daughters, Susan Smith and Lori Poole (Robert); one granddaughter, Brooke Lancaster (Brian); two grandsons, Justin Poole (April) and Ryan Poole; three Great granddaughters, Bree Miller, Lexie Lancaster, and Kate Poole; one great grandson, Braden Poole; niece, Suzanne Frazier (Jim); other nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Services will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2017 with a visitation at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 1:00pm, with a graveside service in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale Alabama at 2:00pm.
