Anita Noellen Deavers Barclay, of Birmingham left us peacefully on Sunday, December 26, 2010. She was preceded in death by her father, A. D. Deavers and brother, Dale Deavers. Survivors include her husband, Larry Barclay; sons: Jake and Clint (Stacy) Barclay; mother, Betty Deavers; brother, Joey Deavers (Tanya); sisters: Kim Abbott (Ronnie) and Marie Naish (Wayne); mother-in-law, Marie Stewart and her special aunt, Lola Chatham. Aunt Nita was dearly loved by her many nieces and nephews, their children as well as a host of friends and other family members. Though she was in poor health for many years she did not allow that to deter her concern for others as expressed by her many works and deeds including volunteering as a court appointed special advocate for abused and neglected children (CASA) and the fight against Alexander’s Disease. There is today a great void in the life of all who knew her and a greater void in the lives of those who never got to know her. Her Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Please consider a contribution to the United Leukodystrophy Society for her wonderful little friend, Felicity Osborn. Arrangements under the direction of Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 205.631.6252 in Gardendale, AL.
