Mrs. Nelson was known as a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was also active at the Fultondale Park as well as a band booster for Fultondale High School. Anita enjoyed square dancing, quilting, and NASCAR. She was a member of Walker's Chapel United Methodist Church, where she also taught Sunday school as well as the Youth Program.
Anita Gail Nelson is survived by her loving husband, James "Peanut" Nelson; children, Howard Nelson (Vicki), Cameron Nelson (Tammy), Darlene Yarbrough (Shane); 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father, Murray Bell and mother, Roberta Pilkington Bell; sister, Judy Bell Merrymon; brother, Phillip Bell; daughter-in-law, Tammy Hallman Nelson; and great-grandson, Allen Veasey.
A visitation for Anita will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Hwy, Gardendale, Alabama 35071, followed by a celebration of life service at 11:00 AM.
