

Betty Avis Davis Perry was born in Centre, Alabama on March 16, 1931 to Jeff Ervin Davis and Nettie Inez Woodall Davis. She married James Howard Perry on June 3, 1949. They recently celebrated 70 beautiful years of marriage. They traveled extensively and saw many beautiful parts of the world. She died on June 24, 2019 at her residence in Gardendale, Alabama.
She is also survived by her son, James Howard Perry, Jr. (Carol), and her daughters Janice Tucker (Al), Patricia Murphree (Roger), Joy Clay (Jerry) and Renee York (Tommy). She was blessed to have 16 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her brother Jerry N. Davis and by many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Johnnie Ray Davis, Bill Davis, Bobby Davis and Joyce Roberts.
She retired after a career in the Treasury Department of Alabama Power.
She was a faithful Christian and was a charter member of Gardendale Church of the Nazarene, where she attended for 54 years. In her earlier years, she was active in many ministry endeavors of the church. She and her husband did short-term mission work in many foreign countries and at Indian reservations in the United States.
Her love for her family made a tremendous impact on them. She was devoted to her large family, and was in attendance at many of their school and sporting events in her retirement years. She leaves a void that cannot be filled.
