Betty Jo. Reid

September 10, 1930 – March 6, 2014

Betty J. Reid left this life as she lived it: trusting in the Lord and reflecting his presence. She went home to be with Him on March 6, 2014. Betty was born in Alabama City, Al and a current resident of Warrior, Al. She was a graduate of Ensley High School and a long time member of Smoke Rise Baptist Church where she served as the SS secretary and a member of the WMU.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Dora Russell; sister, Barbara Clark; 1 grandson and a great-granddaughter.

Betty is survived by her husband of 66 years, Raymond S. Reid, Jr.; children, Raymond S. Reid III (Dee), David L. Reid (Marsha), Kathy L. Brooks (Mike) and Johnny B. Reid (Jeanne); brother, Rev. Wallace W. Russell; sister, Patricia Wright; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

A funeral service will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Saturday, March 8 at 11:00am officiated by, Pastor Toby Shedd, with a visitation beginning one hour prior. Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Gardens. In Lieu of flowers the family request donations to the Smoke Rise Baptist Church, Mission Projects.

The family extends special thanks to those serving as Pall Bearers; Chad Brooks, Jacob Reid, Matt Etheredge, Adam Madison, Wesley Dabbs and Jim Lawler.
