

Betty Joyce Strassner, age 93, of Mount Olive, Alabama, passed away on March 13, 2026, at 7:30 am. Born June 14, 1932, in Alabama, Betty will be remembered as an adventurous, beloved, cherished, compassionate, devoted, resilient, and thoughtful woman whose presence brought steadiness and warmth to those who knew her.
In her early 20's Betty moved to California, where she made her home for 41 years before returning to Alabama. Her life reflected a resilient spirit and an adventurous willingness to embrace new places and seasons.
Betty retired from Alcan Aluminum after many years of service, where she worked as an accountant. She carried her work with the same thoughtful care and devotion that she showed in every part of her life.
A devoted and compassionate mother and grandmother, Betty loved and cherished her family. She also had a passion for sewing--an expression of her thoughtful nature and the care she poured into the lives around her.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Edward Strassner; a daughter, Bridget (Mark) Baer; and seven siblings. She is survived by a daughter, Kathy (Ed) Stroup; grandsons, Kevin (Jossie) Mitchell and Scott (Rachel) Mitchell; nine great-grandchildren, Emily (Dominic) Mitchell, Renne Mitchell, Eliza (Anthony) Mitchell, Angel Mitchell, Matthew Mitchell, Donnie (Lizzie) Beach, Jonathan Baer, Travis Baer, and Brenda (Charles) Pierce; nine great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Larry Hopkins; and many other family members and friends.
Services for Betty will be held at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071, US, on March 18, 2026, with a time of visitation from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at the same location at 12:00 pm. Her burial will follow at Hopewell Church Cemetery, 600 Hopewell Church Road NE, Hanceville, AL 35077.
