Billy was a man whose life was deeply rooted in faith, family, and country. He was passionate about his relationship with God, deeply loved his family, and held a special love and appreciation for his country.
A graduate of Hanceville High School, Billy proudly served in the United States Air Force and later attended UAB. He was a member of Central Baptist Church as well as the Foundrymen’s Association.
Billy retired from Stockham Valves & Fittings and also worked with Perry Supply in Birmingham. Throughout his life, he possessed a wonderful gift for connecting with others. His family remembers his rare ability to make friends wherever he went, a reflection of the warmth and kindness he shared so naturally with those around him.
Saturday afternoons held a special place in Billy’s heart, as Alabama football was a must. Cheering on the Crimson Tide was one of the simple pleasures he thoroughly enjoyed.
Billy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Ann Johnson Hicks; his parents, Flora and Horace Hicks; his grandson, John Wesley Day; and his sister, Verda Lee Giles.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Cynthia Hicks Day (Jim Day); granddaughter, Crystal Day Dickerson (Jeffry T.); great-grandchildren, Ella Grace Dickerson and Eli Thomas Dickerson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel beginning at 1pm immediately followed by services at 2:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow.
