Bobby E. Hackney

Bobby E. Hackney age 70 of Gardendale, Alabama passed away on May 8, 2023 after a long illness with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born to the late Odes Eugene and Ruth Black Hackney on June 23, 1952 in Blountsville, Alabama.

Bobby was a longtime member of Gardendale First Baptist Church. At the age of 14 Bobby began woodworking and learning the trade of a carpenter. He owned Professional Building and Decorating and provided his customers with beautiful homes. When he wasn’t woodworking you would find him gardening or playing with his ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren that lovingly referred to him as PawPaw.

Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Shirley Hackney; his children and their families; Christopher Lee Hackney his wife Kelly and their children Micah and Shelby, Casey Eugene Hackney and his children Abigail and Emma; Jeremy Chad Hackney his wife Natalie and their children Alyssa and Breland; Jason Belcher and his wife Christina; Ann Marie “Annie” Fain her husband Michael, their children Cori, Kasey, Carrigan, and Cal Rubi and their grandchildren Penelope, Milo, and Otto ; and Cindi McMillian; his sister Norma Hardiman and her husband Danny; his brother Billy Hackney and his wife Diane; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Graveside Service to Celebrate Bobby’s Life will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 at Oakwood Memorial Gardens at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Gardendale First Baptist Church – Missions Offering.
