Byron a resident of Hayden, AL, went home to sing for the Lord, at the age of 85. He was a retired school teacher and Guidance Counselor of the Oneonta School System. He was a longtime member of Blount Springs Baptist Church and a Gospel Singer and song writer who loved to sing for God’s Glory.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Nellie Alpha, and loving wife of 60 years Louise Reid; brother J. E. Reid; grandson, Allen Reid. He is survived by his sons, Jim Reid (Kathy) and Byron L. Reid ( Betty-Marie); daughter Anna R. Holaway (Steve); grandchildren, Andrew Reid (Kristen), Katie Holaway, Nathan Reid, Sarah Holaway, James-Isaac Reid; great grandchild, Jackson Reid, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Service will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Friday, December 26th, 2014 with a visitation beginning at 1:00pm, a funeral service at 2:00pm followed by his burial in the Gethsemane Baptist Cemetery in Hayden, AL.
