I don’t know where to start. Charles/Pawpaw was so sweet loving and had such a big heart. He loved his family. I miss taking him and Nana to the dr. When I got to take them to the dr. I always felt I had such a special job. Not only did I get to take them to there apts. I got to spend special one on one time with them. And laugh when I had to answer the same question over and over all day. You had to laugh to keep from crying cause it’s so sad. Getting to help them pick out where to eat lunch at was fun too. Every time I had to joke at least one time. For us to go to Chick fl A. I’m going to miss you Paw Paw I will always love you to the moon and back! 😘

There are so many wonderful memories of Charles that I can’t just focus on one. We named our son Charles Lee after his paw paw after seeing the love he had for Laura.  My babies love their paw paw so much! My only regret is that Lacy won’t get that special bond that her mommy & uncle had with him. We are so blessed to have had him as long we did & we know he is in Heaven today because Fran showed him the love of Jesus & he accepted Jesus as his savior many years ago. His last day here with us we surrounded his bed as he lay there waiting on Jesus to come take him home. We were  singing praises to our Lord & praying for his suffering to be over. Thank God He isn’t suffering now & Charles is celebrating with his risen savior. 

My paw paw was a wonderful man I was so lucky to have 21 years and 6 months with him, in those years we had so many good times and I am gonna miss him more than anyone could ever know. He always called me paw paws precious and that is my favorite memory no matter where we were how old I got or who was around even when his mind got bad till his very last breath he knew who I was and still called me paw paws precious. When me and my brother Lee we’re little one of our favorite things to do was spend the night with nana and paw paw and we would always sit at the kitchen table and eat Ice cream before bed which was paw paws favorite thing to eat. He was there when me and my brother were born and loved us as if we were his blood grand kids and we loved him we didn’t know till we got older that he wasn’t blood but we even then took him as blood kin cause that’s who he was to us, the only paw paw we ever knew and nothing will ever change how much we love him. We would go on vacation all 6 of us every year and he was such a fun man to be with he was always happy and loved to joke with us. He remembered my husband Cody after he met him the first time and I know that was out of love and after we had our daughter lacy he was so happy and remembered her even when his alztimeres had progressed. Cody me and lacy took him and nana out on the lake two weeks before he passed and nana said he talked about how fun that was for days after and that means the world to me. He loved us so much and we took care of him nothing will ever be the same now that he’s gone. And even tho my very last memory of him is sad I’m glad that I stood by his side till he took his last breath, I love you paw paw and I can’t wait to see you again in heaven one day. Love your precious ❤️😘 

The picture below is of Charles’ first family. His wife Ruth who passed away, his son Doug and  his 2 adoptive daughters Patsy Ruth Herring and Kathy Herring Bennett. After Ruth passed away, he met and married Fran whom he loved dearly. He loved his 2nd family as his own. As his sister, I would like to thank Fran, William and all the family for loving and caring for my brother.

My heart is heavy as I look back and remember the sweet fun times I had with my brother Charles.  He was my half brother and 14 years older. He called me Sis. I remember him buying my first bicycle and he and his first wife Ruth buying my  younger brother and I Easter outfits. Also going to the beach with him and Ruth and their children. He also bought mine and my brother’s children their first pony, Phyllis Diller, whom they all dearly loved.
When he went into the Navy my mother was devastated. When he would come home on leave, Mother had a feast for him. The same thing every time; his favorites, Ham, potato salad and Butterbeans. He was so special in my life as I grew older. 
After Ruth passed away, he married Fran and was very happy.  They moved to Hayden and we both advanced in age and it was harder to get to see him. I always had him in my heart.
We will all be together again someday. He is now with Jesus, my Mother, Father, brother Frank and of course Ruth. What a glad reunion that will be.
