Charles Douglas Howell

He was preceded in death by his father Coy Howell, mother Mona Burleson Howell and his oldest brother Bruce Howell. He is survived by his sister Rhonda Jo (Jack) Bates of Pinson, his brother James Dwight (Janice) Howell of Mount Olive along with many nieces and nephews.

Doug joined the Navy in 1964 and spent 29 years serving our country, earning the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer, before retiring.

He spent his retirement years quietly and simply, fishing and watching Alabama Football.

His biggest joke in life was telling everyone when he got up in the morning, he could look in the mirror and say “Can I go fishing today?” and the answer was always “YES”

Services will be held on Friday, June 23, 2017, at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel with a visitation to begin at 11:00am; funeral service at 12:00 noon, followed by his burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, AL.
