Clarence "Firpo" Rickett passed away on March 12th 2023 after a short battle with colon cancer. Known as "Firpo" to family and friends, he was born on March 28, 1954 to Harry and Frances Rickett. He has a younger brother Myron “Babe” Rickett. He graduated from Gardendale Vocational School and began a career in computer programming.
In 1976, he married Cindy Martin. Together they had 3 daughters --Carrie Hall (Nathan), Cassie Drake, and Carlie Mackeraghan (Marcus.) He was the best daddy to "his girls" and a wonderful "Poppy" to his grandchildren--Caylee Drake, Emma Kate Holdbrooks (JT), Sophie Bearden, Amelia Hall, Hunter Hall, and Oliver Mackeraghan.
Firpo loved cars of any kind, running or not, and had been a backyard mechanic most of his life. He loved boats and being near the beach or at the pier. He loved music and listened to almost everything. He had a dry sense of humor and was the king of the dad jokes. His family was everything to him and spending time with everyone and eating were his favorite days.
Firpo was a giver in every sense of the word and would go above and beyond to make sure others were taken care of. He lived by the motto, "the takers may eat better but the givers sleep better."
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 15 with visitation at 1 pm and funeral service at 2pm at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel.
