CORDES “LEON” MOON, born February 1, 1937, to Enon C. Moon and Eula Rhodes Moon, celebrated his eternal birth on February 4, 2019, at the age of 82. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 41 years, Evelyn Lay Moon, his parents, and his great granddaughter Layla Hughes.

He is survived by daughter Barbara Hughes, son Michael L. Moon (Kathy). 5 Grandchildren, Denise Hughes, Lance Hughes, Warren Hughes, Dean Stovall, and Emily Patterson. Several great-grandchildren. 8 siblings, Clyvie Foreman, Yvonne Sheppard (twin), Delmar Moon, Frank Moon, Dean Weems, Wynell Brown, Dwight Moon and Kathy Crane. A multitude of nieces and nephews. Leon was born in Cullman County, Alabama and resided most of his life in the Gardendale area.

He was a member of Liberty Primitive Baptist. He was a welder and run his own business until retiring. During retirement Leon loved to dress as Santa each Christmas and listen to all of the wish list. He cherished this opportunity more than any other job in his life. He was kind hearted and kind spirited. Leon’s message to all would be that we should all love one another regardless of our religion or ethnicity. He was a simple man and he will be sorely missed.

Visitation will be held on Feb 8, 2019 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, the Funeral Service will be held on Feb 9, 2019 at 2:00 pm with a graveside service to follow at Oakwood Memorial Gardens. If you wish to make donations in lieu of flowers, please make donations to The American Diabetes Association in honor of Mr. Moon.

Mr Moon always came to hardees always had a smile he always wanted his biscuit and gravy and sometimes a dessert on the side lol I really truly miss him wanting me to come and sit and talk with him even tho I was suppose to b working but I couldn't help just to show him i cared we would just sit and talk about whatever he would listen to what I had to say and always gave me great feed back to the Moon family I'm truly sorry for ur loss what a great man !!!
